Kids Under Construction is an after-school program open to kids from Kindergarten through Third Grade.  We meet in the church building in the basement every afternoon - five days a week, Monday through Friday- from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.  The church van travels to the Hillsboro Elementary School across from the hospital and picks up kids there then goes out to the Hillsboro Intermediate School to pick up there.  We have a number of fun activities such as bible stories, games, crafts, snacks, outside play on the playground and activity centers that keep the child entertained while growing their minds and helping them to learn about the Bible and Jesus and His message for us in the world today.  The mission statement for the  Kids Under Construction program is as follows: “To provide a safe and fun environment where kids can play, learn, have fun and grow, physically, mentally and spiritually.” 

Kids Under Construction was started almost twenty years ago by the Associate Pastor at that time, Rev. Nancy Schusler, as a program where kids could come and be fed, both physically and spiritually, and learn about the Bible, Jesus and His message for us in the world today.  The program was originally begun as a one day a week program meeting only on Wednesday.  This is the first year (2009) that the progam has started its five day a week schedule.  Since it is an after school program, the school calendar is followed regarding holidays and days off.  It is working very well and will continue to do so well into the future.  Kids Under Construction faithfully lives up to this promise started twenty years ago by providing fun learning activities for each and every child that steps through the doors today.  Each child is special and unique and is a precious gift from God.  As such, we treat every child with the utmost respect, honor and love. 

 Registration forms are available in the church office and will soon be made available online.  If you wish to volunteer for the program no matter how many hours or days you can come, please see the Kids Under Construction Program Director, Nanette Wyatt, at the church during the times the program meets or call the church office and leave a message for her.  Since the number of volunteers is low at the moment, enrollment is limited to the first twenty-five children who send in a registration form.  Hopefully, this number will increase in the future as more volunteers are found.  Please keep checking this website page regularly for news, information and updates.
